Hello Everyone! I just joined MFK and i'm currently in the process of buying a 75 i believe. I know the fish will eventually outgrow this tank but would i be able to have a red tail catfish or tiger shovelnose in there? I'm very interested in both of these fish. Thanks!

Won't be able to have it fow very long in that tank, maybe a year tops, get a bigger tank initially will save you some money down the road on upgrades. Lots of monsters that fit in a 75 though: gulpers, 4-line pims, feather fins, etc...

It would last maybe a couple months if you got it very tiny. However expect about an inch of growth a week for a healthy fish so it wouldn't last long in a 75g at all, maybe a few months tops. So to answer you, no I wouldn't get one yet.

Thanks, i just have seen a bunch of large tanks with a couple big fish in it. How often should you do water changes with big fish like these? i know they need clean water.

Very minimum 1x per week, at this point with as much as mine is eating it's looking like it will need 2x per week.

And not just 5 gallons either, at least 10-15% or more.
