I'm new here, and just wanted to say Hi.
I just bought a new Nikon 70D, with the 18-to 70 mm lens. I also bought, a used AF Nikkor 35-135mm f3.5 - 4.5 Macro. Havn't tryed the camera or lens yet.
I will use it mostly to photograph, anything from planted tank to fish. Wiull I need the 800 flash? I have a 260w pc light i can put on the tanks, I'm taking pictures from.
I hope this doesn't get as addicting as, planted tanks, and fish lol.
Thanks for any help.
Glenn

Forgot to ask, my friend has a like new, AF Nikkor 24 - 50mm f3.5 - 4.5 Macro, for $200. Would this be a good lens to have, or is the Macro lens I have, all I need?

hi Glenn, and welcome to APF. Regarding your lenses, the 18-70 covers all of what the 24-50mm does. In fact, i was a little boggled that you added the 35-125 to your collection, already having the 18-70. Don't be fooled by the "macro" label, as these aren't true macro lenses (won't get you to 1:1 reproduction ratio on their own). If you are interested in "true" macro, i recommend the 105 micro nikkor, or maybe the 60mm micro nikkor. I also recommend a good speedlight (sb-800) for aquatic photography, but it wouldn't hurt to see what kind of results you can get with your existing equipment. gl, and feel free to post some photos so we can see where you are with your photography. :) good luck with your new camera.

Welcome to the forum. Good to see another plant hobbyist on this forum.

Agreed with what Hir0 said. Also another thing to take note of is the fact that you're overlapping some of the same focal length with the above lenses. Due to this, you'll end up only using the others very sparingly.

Take some pictures with the lighting that you have and see how they come out.

Welcome Raretangs!

Great advice from the Nikon experts here, they are always up on their game! Be sure to ask them and any other advice team/moderators any time you have questions, we're here!

Hope to see some pics soon!

See you around
Tony
