I am new to MFK. I would like to say hello to all the experienced fish keepers. I have a fairly new tank which has been up and running for about one month. I have a 55 gallon with 5 baby jds, 1 ebjd, an oscar and a pictus catfish. Also i have a few striped danios, 2 guppies, 1 molly, 1 algae eater and an albino cory catfish that I was using to cycle my tank. The other small fish died within two days, however the rest survived. Two have vanished. So far, so good though. I did my third water change. I have an aquaclear 110 on my tank. I'm not sure if I overstocked my tank or not. I know the smaller cycling fish will eventually get eaten. Oh well. Any advise? I don't know if this is beginners luck or cichlids are fairly easy to care for.

welcome! cichlids are generly very easy to care for bur your tank is over stocked and will soon be a problem because that oscar grows the quickest and nothing that will fit in his mouth is safe! he will also out grow your tanks quite quickly.

u did over stock a little bit, oscars get very large and dont grow to their environment. they just keep growing. and the fish that vanished were eaten by the oscar. and welcome to MFK!
