Hello, my name is Katie and I've been an avid follower of the freshwater stingray forum topics on MFK for about 6 mo now. I have a 150 gal custom tank made for stingrays-- 3 feet by 3 feet (27in high). I know many find this a little small for stingrays but it is not long term, I will upgrade when needed. I recently had a 5-6" reticulata male ray and a 11" female Motoro ray. Unfortunately something in my aquarium must have gone drastically wrong and they both died this past weekend. I used MFK to attempt to save them when I noticed abnormal floating behavior and did everything I could (adding salt, lowing temp for more DO, and special water treatments recommended by forum members) but I must have been too late. I still am in awe of the situation as I know that my water parameters were fairly normal (ammonia was up only a hair, they had dealt with worse before when an small ammonia spike occurred about 4 months ago.) I'm now currently in the process of cycling the tank for water quality...
Hopefully I can bounce ideas off of you for better luck next time around :/
