Hello MFK. I thought I'd register and introduce myself.

I'm from San Diego, CA. Recently got into the hype and started a fish tank.

Currently have a 29 G 30x12x19

Housing 3 convict cichlids, 2 JD cichlids, 3 panda cory cats, 1 sailfin pleco (sm), 2 clown plecos, and and the pride of the tank 1 Jardini Arowana (4-5in).

The setup is 50G Aquaclear Power Filter, 200W Aquaeon Heater (set at 80F), Tetra 40G air pump w/12 inch bubble bar, 5-6 MISC plants.

The tank has been cycled and ran for about 3 months, is doing well <.02ppm Ammonia, PH at 7. All the fish are surviving and getting along, with the exception of one of the convicts always chasing the others around. I have been feeding with bloodworms, crickets, cichlid granules, and krill (switching off).

Whenever I am around my arowana stays on the far side of the tank, but when I am watching from afar, he/she swims all over. Is this normal behaivor?

I was thinking of adding a black arowana, but I do think it may be over crowding.

How do you guys think im doing? Any comments, tips, suggestions, please let me know. Thanks guys.

its overcrowded without the black aro. you do know how big some of those fish will get right?

Tank is already overcrowded.

Welcome to MFK, I am glad you took the time to ask if your set up would work-shows you care. I think you are overstocked and need to get rid of a few fish. First, being the Jardini they get way too large for a tank that size and will kill your other fish.
Secondly the two JD may also eventually outgrow your 29 gallon I personally think a JD needs a 55 gallon but you might be able to get away with one in your 29 gallon. Third, you have three convicts if two decide to breed they will kill all of your fish. I don't know much about the Plecos but depending on what you really like in there, you will either have to upgrade to a larger tank or get rid of most of your fish. Let us know how you feel (as far as which fish you really want to keep)that way we can give you more options.
