Hello, my name is Bobby Melton. I've been keeping fish for the better part of 30 years. I've been doing it professionally for 13. My reef tank was Reef2Reef's tank spotlight July 2015. Well, I've moved in to a house with a massive sunroom with a concrete slab. I'm playing around with the idea of building a tank 14'x8'x4' for fresh water stingrays, tiger datnoides, and peacock bass. I've sent many potential monster fish keepers to this site over the last decade. Now it's my turn.

Any advice will help. I've noticed most plywood tank builds are half the size I'm planning. Is plywood the way to go for this size??

Tanks in advance..

got no advice, I only have little tanks by MFK standards, 180.145. 95. but Welcome to the site!!! :)

Welcome to mfk! Also I have seen people have great luck with concrete + cinderblock ponds for something that size

Thanks for the welcome Pops! Normally, I just have a professional tank builder build tanks for me to install. Something this size would be out of my price range.

The more I'm reading, the more I'm thinking concrete is the way to go. I'm wanting to plumb in a pool sand filter and possibly add a UV sterilizer.

more than welcome, hope it all goes good for you. pretty sure some folks still around that can give you some sound advise.
