Hi there im new to the site, and i am also new to owning moster fish. I am 19 and i have loved taking care of fish ever since i can remember. i have always had a fish tank in my room, and there has always been 3 or more tanks going at once in my house. i have a few quick questions if people could answer them thank you tons.

okay i have tiger oscars, i have 5 tiger oscars and 2 albino tiger oscars, i adopted two of my tiger oscars, the others are all still small and im raising them from young.

my main question is how do i get them to have the best colouring? another question i have about them is while doing my research it says they can be in a tank with other fish i have 3 tanks going what would be good to put with them? i know they eat feeder fish i actually dont like feeding them feeders cause i have heard and read many times that its actually bad for them.

Thank You

First hi and welcome.I've also recently joined in this forum.well any fish that they couldn't predate or the size of those fish which they can fit into their mouth will do well with them. The size of the fish s houldn't be smaller than your oscars. And for the good colouration you should feed them with supplement foods of live food and good quality pellets. These are the tips of my own experience.

Hello And Welcome!

I don't ever feed live this will help them not want to eat tankmates. I find fish get great reds & blues from frozen Krill and a mix of other frozens. I also like Tetra color foods. Decour colors in your aquarium as well as lighting also play a huge roll in the color that you see.

One of my teen year tanks I had Firemouths & Oscars in the same tank that were purchased close to the same time. They all started out similar size. The Oscars grew much bigger than the firemouths. The oscars could have easily swallowed them. They never did in fact the Firemouths ruled the roost.

I also used to feed live and if a fish survived a week with a predator they could live for years with them. At least untill the feeder got sick. My fish used to get sick & die a lot more when they were on live foods.

Welcome to MFK !! what size fish tanks do you have now ? you have 7 oscars ? wow you are going to be busy once they all reach adult size
