hello new to gars

hey everyone i havent posted in a while im really into cichlids but now i wanted to make a single gar tank. the footprint of the tank was going to be 8'x2'x2' i was looking into getting a florida gar and maybe one or two other tankmates do u guys think this would be a good setup for a gar.

if you try to recreate the natural habitat it will not be pretty, swamp and dark water. Use fake plants and keep the decorations to a minimum. see THIS sticky.

thanks for the link. what are some good tank mates for FLG. im pretty much open to any tank mates as long as they wont put me into the whole too much price wise. got any suggestions
