:) Ok, this is my first visit to the forum. I just wanted to say HI to everyone

Ok. I own a 29 gallon saltwater tank. I have 20 pounds of live rock (i know im about 10 pounds off right now) 5 pounds of live sand and 5 pounds of regular sand. I have a green oddysea canister filter on my tank along with a smaller 10-15 gallon pump on my tank. the canister filter filters 1500 L an hour. I also have a double vase decoration in my tank for my fish to hide in when someone they do not know is in the tank. I also have a spiny oyster shell in the tank that one of my fish tends to hide in alot.

As far as fish go, I have a spotted dogface puffer named Cujo. Cujo was bought from a fish place here on the coast and he was stressed out and refused to eat. After being in my tank for about 3 hours, he was mouthing my rocks wanting to eat.

I also have a black yellow tail chromis named Chrome. My ex got him for me when I was starting out in saltwater. I will admit, I was torturous putting him in a 5 gallon tank for 3 months, but he was by himself and he did perfectly fine. When I upgraded to my 29 gallon tank, he panicked and I almost lost him had it not been for the canister filter.

Another fish I own is a tomato clown named Bengal. Bengal was bought initially in hopes of knocking my chromis down a notch or two due to the chromis' agressive behavior. My clownfish is a little shy but he tends to hang out with the damsel and dogface a lot.

My last fish is a yellow tang (I know i know torture to have him in there) The way I figured it was better for him to be in a 29 gallon tank and be healthy than be in a 40 gallon and have severe ich and the fish store refusing to treat him. His name is Bubbles.

Here is my tank heiarchy:

Me--> Chrome--->Bubbles---->Cujo---->Bengal

I also have 12 moon snails, a turbo snail, 3 marsh periwinkles, 2 striped leg hermits, and a feather duster.

Here are some pictures of my tank

cant post pics till the 5th post, sorry.
i am eager to see the tank. is it a 29 reg. or a cube?

Ok here it goes I think you need way more Live Rock and Live Sand. That Puffer is going to get really big and you will need to upgrade tanks pretty soon. You will also need a skimmer due to the large bio load. Rescuing fish is usually a bad because when u buy the fish the store thinks "hey someone bought the fish so lets order 2 more cause people buy them". When that happens dumb customers think because the pet store has them in a small tank so can they. I am not flaming just giving you some constructive criticism. Also it sounds like your tank in going in the right direction though. Also could you please list all of your equipment. one other thing canister filters are good for running carbon or purigen with no bio media. If you use bio media it turns into a nitrate trap. All bio media in a salt tank comes from the live sand and live rock. I would just run a HOB Skimmer and run the canister filter with carbon and purigen. Changed frequently. You can also add a few power heads to keep the dritius blown off the rocks that will also cause nitrates to go up. Good luck!

Just make a few more posts and then repost your pics. I can see where sprayin70 is coming from on those arguments, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you'll upgrade as soon as you can...because we all want healthy ]V[onsters.

well, i plan to upgrade for my birthday, my mom usually tries to get me a bigger tank for my birthday.

As far as all the equipment on my tank, i have the canister filter (carbon and the other thing only) my friend set it up for me he's been working with fish for years. I am getting more live rock and live sand as soon as i possibly can, i used pell grant money to get the sand and rock i have now. it was almost 7 dollars a pound so i think i got like 15 pounds all at once and the live sand was over 20 dollars. I know my puffer will get bigger, I plan to move him to the new tank as soon as i get it. My friend may be giving me a 65 gallon tank so the tang and the clown and damsel will be going in there.

I have the canister filter, a small filter for 10-15 gallon tanks with carbon. A small thermometer, a refugium with a golfball size portion of spaghetti algae im growing to help in case i have any nitrates. I also have 2 lights, one is a tinic blue light and the other is i dont know what kind it is, my friend says it will help with my plant growth...its pretty strong. I plan to get a protein skimmer soon, like I said I am waiting for my birthday in June.

My fish act perfectly happy and content in the tank and everything, they show great coloration. I bought the tang though because down here there is a temporary lack in the getting of yellow tangs. I searched 5 or 6 stores for them and i could only find the one. I got rid of the ich with no problems and he's doing great in my tank. I will try to post some pictures soon. maybe in a little while after i comment on some peoples thoughts lol.
