Hello Everyone,

My name is Kai. I started my fish tank awhile ago, and noticed that there is a lot of brown algae here in my tank.

I was thinking of getting a UV Sterilizer soon to get rid some of the brown Algae? I called the local pet store and they suggested getting a Current USA 15 watt Gamma Ultraviolet Sterilizer (up to 75 gal.)

Currently I have 2-3 inch of Eco Complete Mix with florite gravel.

Wisteria plant, java fern, amazon sword, ludwigia lupens, other form of ludwigia, creepy jenny are my plants.

We have really hard water here in CA and very high PH as well.

Currently I'm running an Rena XP3, 2x2 t12 lamps. With 40 watt each per bulb. GE plant and aquarium lights in a 75 Gal Acrylic tank.

The Fish I have are:

2 Med Large Jewel Cichlids
1 Med Large Jack Demsey mix
1 undisclosed lake fish
1 Texas Ciclid
1 Green Terror that just changed colors to mostly yellow
1 Electric Yellow
4 other various small-med african ciclids.

I'm planning to add 2 large other lake fish here in the tank. They are in the curing bucket for several weeks. Noticed lots of parasitic worms on them and fungus after briefly releasing them to the tank. Recaptured and and moved back to quarantine bucket. Treated them with Jungle Binox , Parasite Clear for several weeks. I gave the bucket fish a very strong dip of binox and parasite clear today for 3 min. Both of them flipped on there side and upside down after 3 min. Threw them back into the normal curing bucket , both in my reptile hang in the water filter and brought them back. BTW I'm trying to convert them to shrimp pellets.

They been eating and spitting it out. no food for them now for 5-6 days. Only after I Threw them in the tank, did I notice still parasites and fungus on them. How much longer before i can cure them?

Here's a Pic of the tank.

uv sterilizer should help, along with no direct sunlight, and if possible limit the tank light until you see improvement. as for the lake fish... not sure, i have no experience with wild caught fish. by i did hear that its best to catch while thier young, it will be easier to convert them to reg food. and keep up with the parasite treatment untill you see good health improvement. good luck:D

btw my dog's name is Kai. lol

You got quite a big range of fish. As soon as that texas cichlid and green terror reach full size your africans will be lunch. Your jewels might survive if they're given man hiding places. Also, I wouldn't recommend putting any mysterious lake fish in your tank. Especially if they parasites in them. Thats just asking for trouble. Also, your quarentining them in a bucket? It might be a reason they're not healing is because the stress of being constantly moved and not enough oxygen in the water from the medications and no water movement.
