In my own little world
Just wanted to stop in and say howdy from the Sunshine State (although today is kind of grey and overcast, I hope it rains we really need it).

I've been swimming around in the shadows for a couple of weeks reading the posts articles and comments and have to say MFK seems like the place to be if fish keeping is in your blood.

Just a little about myself... The name's John, I'm 53y/o, living the good life in Clearwater, FL. I've kept fish off and on for 40+ years, everything from the obligitory guppy tank as a kid to a 225 reef tank. As I spent 21 years in the U.S. Army, alot of times I'd have to sell off or give away my systems.

Currently have a 120 Long, that we just setup (1 month ago) inhabitants are (all pups at this time), 2 tiger oscars, 2 Chaca chaca Cats, and will be picking up 2 Silver Arowana on Wednesday.

Once I get my wife's interest diverted to something else and I make room in my garage (I'm currently rebuilding a 1955 Chevy Hard Top) I plan on building a 300gal Plexi/acrylic (have to have someplace to put the pups when they grow up :)). My neighbor works with plastics and says he'll give me a hand, making sure I don't screw it up (TY Chip).

I'd like to hear from others what they think of my idea. The tank's dimensions will be 48"L x 24"W x 48" T. I'm planning on using 1/2in Plexi and could make the tank with 2 48 x 96 sheets. One sheet cut in 2 for the front and back and one sheet quartered provides the sides, bottom and euro-bracing.

Well anyways, just wanted to introduce myself and look forward to learning/teaching here at MFK.

John

Welcome! Pics of your hardtop?

I don't want the Admins saying I'm turning their Aquariest site into a car site. But this is what it looked like (now it's in many places...front clip on the patio by the pool, doors in the Florida Room, floor pans up against the wall in the garage, etc., etc., etc.)

That's me putting on the new outer rockers and then initial floor pan fitting.

Eventually, it will be pushed down the road by an LS1/4L60E.

Nice, you can always post non-aquatic related material in the lounge!

I'll post up some pics eventually, but as I said right now they are still 'pups' and I don't want you all laughing at me for showing off "mini monsters"

Is that Olds a Rockett or a Holiday? Whichever it might be I'm sure you're lovin' it.

Welcome. I would say from sunny St. Pete but it's overcast here too. We like pics of monsters in training also, especially oscars and aro's so get to posting.
