Hey guys!

You might know me from another forum(s) (PM me if my description sounds familiar) under different username(s). I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you guys a tad bit about my fish (what I had, what I have, what I am aiming for, etc..).

Past; I started fish keeping summer of 2010. I have been in the hobby under 3/4 of a year and I am addicted. I had a rough start, though. I made sure I knew alot about fish when I started, but I didn't know about the cycle. All four of the fish I got for my 10g tank lived. 2 of them are alive today, and the other 2 were killed by a major parasitic infection from a non-Qed Lemon Tetra that died. That happend last fall. Not much to say about the past other than the tanks I have setup lol.

Present; right now I have several tanks setup.

55g; empty, soon to be my amazon tank with 6 species of tetra, 1 species of hatchetfish, 3 species of corydoras, and 2 Bolivian Rams.

30g; Saltwater tank. Got it off craigslist. Future stocking plans undetermined. It contains 1 3-stripe, 1 blue devil, 1 Dwarf Blue-Leg Hermit Crab, 1 Peppermint Shrimp, 1 Turbo Snail, several Turban Snails, lots of bristleworms, small starfish, small snails, and polyps. About 25-45lbs of LR.

10g; QT for the soon-to-be 55g amazon tank. Contains 3 different species of fish currently. HEAVILY PLANTED!

10g; Betta/Jewel Cichlid tank. Less than ideal for my Jewel, but he seems to be fine with it for now. The setup is only temperary.

5g; Guppy tank. Unfortunately I have 2 males and a female, when I thought I only had 2f and 1m. I am making arangements to get the ratio back to Ok.

1.5g; Inverts. Working on Gen 5 of ramshorn and my Ghost shrimp also lives there.

1g bowl; Unfortunately, Walmart hasn't stocked a 10g tank so that I can upgrade. I am going to Petsmart (50+ miles away), my nearest chain, to get the empty 10g so I can get my poor little Spike some heat.

Future; I have many future plans. I will change my mind often, depending on my budget. Now I think I have a more stable plan. There tanks are listed in order of priority.

Pacman Frog; I know that a pacman isn't a fish, but this is my most active project. I have collected all that I need for a pacman setup except the 10g tank itself, the pacman frog, and live crickets. I am really excited because my LFS says that they will order me a pacman at the beginning of this summer. Can't wait!

Fancy Goldfish; I am thinking about a 30g tank and 2 fancies. 1 WILL BE a Black Moor, and I am not sure what to do for the other, as Black Moor can have bad vision and should only be kept with a small variety of Fancies.

Chilean Rose Hair Taranchula; Also not a fish. These are the easiest pet to keep that I can think of! I might start a cricket breeder, so what am I supposed to do with all the left-over crickets??

Less important Projects (not in order);

Fire-Belly Toads
Tanzanian Red-Claw Scorpion
Gold Gouramis & Asian fish
10g Saltwater tank w/ 1 Goby
African Clawed Frog Tank (banned for the moment)
...other projects that I don't remember right now...

So that is me. I love fish, and now I am also starting to look at terrariums.

Can't wait to get to know the community!

HI AND WELCOME TO MFK!!

The cycling process can be a tricky one, especially if your unaware of it.. unfortunately so many of us experience the same thing when first starting out..

I am actually looking into doing a terrarium here pretty soon myself... !!!

Howdey, the 55 sounds like it's going to be neat, I always wanted at least six each of two different species of corydoras, to watch their tribes interact. Might get around to it some day, but my next big tank is gonna be a little rough for corries, and my LFS only seems to get in albinos.
Right now I have 6 albino 1 ol' bronze and some eggs in with my angels and rams.
Welcome to MFK

Hey guys! Thanks for the welcome!

I did not recieve email notification for replies on this thread. I have been searching my UserCP, but I can't find out how to automatically subscribe to threads by posting, and how to make sure I get notification instantly, instead of delayed.

Can you guys help me with that?

I want to get albino corydoras, bronze corydoras (same species as albino, except not albino), and 3-stripe aka Julii corydoras.

My biggest holdup for the amazon is some good, cheap, non-calcius black gravel. If I were to buy my gravel from walmart, it would cost over $175. I am trying to find a good landscaping store that I can get all I need gravel-wise for about $10.

Hi welcome to MFK :)

You will need to use your 'User Control Panel' to change your settings, it's located on the upper left side of your screen right above your username. Once your in that screen scroll down a bit and look for 'Settings & Options' and underneath that click 'Edit Options'. Go down the whole list and set things the way you want them, the email option will be there to.

Let me know if you need anymore help.
