New to the site. Just set up a 46B with 300 gph HOB and diy light and top. Stocked with :
1-8" golden shiner
1-7" black crappie
1-5" pumpkinseed
1- 7.5" bluegill
4- 3 to 4' bluegill

Probably a little heavy on the load but it checks out. I have great well water with 7.8 ph. Maybe a liltle heavy on gh but they will get used to it. I live on a river and fish a couple days a week year round so supply is endless. I also have a 100g rubbermaid, diy 5g wet/dry with 950gph in the shop for backup.

Thanks...and now for the questions lol. Lurked, learned the aconynms and ready to go bigger. This is my 100g wet/dry. Starting at top going down to out flow. Blue filter media, a lid bucket lod cut down with multi holes to spread water, AC, white filter media, blue media and chunk of pvc pipe at the bottom to act as bioballs. The outflow can be directed to adjust current. I only run this setup a couple hours a day with water temps below 50.

AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK? AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T DRY OUT WILL BE OK TO NOT RUN CONTINUIOSLY?

I catch the fish and put them in the cold tank which is near their capture temp. Acclimate them slowly to water temp/properties. Then move them to uptairs water. I just seem to stess them and cause fungus and other issues. Maybe too fast? Here are some pics of 46 residents. I am seeing mouth sores which is expected and fin rot. Frequent water changes and mal green for 9 day regiment have helped.

The smaller gills are already eating worms out of my hand. They all started good on shrimp/chichlid flakes but now just spit them. The shiner will eat pelletd and flakes but the rest wantt worms.
SHOULD I STARVE THEM AND PELLET TRAIN THEM? I have an enless supply of worms in my worm bed. Makes for mote water changes is what I'm thinking.

that golden shiner is huge and very very nice. nice fish

Thanks. I had 2 that were bigger. One has bad eye and is in cold tank, other died. They are fun to watch. Go nuts at feeding time no matter what you put in.
