Hi everybody! My name is Missy and I think your site is great. I am new here and I am glad to be here. I have had fish for 26 years and my specialty is growing the plecos. I just lost 1 last Feb. He was 14 1/2 years old and 2 ' 9 1/2 " long. I am branching out a little into cichlids, but mainly I have semi-aggressive fish.

welcome missyboo!! a 2 ft pleco you said?? Well youve come to the right place !
I will expect pics of your monster plecs now..

Well, I recently acquired a new one. I think he is a Rhino Pleco(?) he looks armor plated, and I haven't seen anything like him. Any suggestions on where to look?

for big plecos or pleco id ?

Big Plecos you can go to our buy and sell section and look for Rare Exotic Fish..
his name is Jon Rare and he regularly offers big nice plecs at very reasonable prices.

For ID , go to planetcatfish.com and you can search there...

thanks, been there. can't find him. I don't usually get the big ones, I like to grow 'em but this one was dumped at my work. the guy said we would either take him or he was going in the dumpster!!!! Had to take him I guess.

Dr. Axelrod's atlas, most public libraries have one.

wow, a 33" common pleco!? it was a common right? very cool! what size tank was he kept in? did he do any growing for the last 4 years of his life? did he beat down on his tankmates alot?

The only plecos I have ever got to even 1' ended up as empty heads. I like plecos and hope next time I keep them i will do it right, esp. nigrans lineatus.
