Hi, I have one common pleco about 3 inches. My 30g tank has a lot of algae and a hiding spot, and plenty of plants. Water parameters are good, and the 2 otocinclus and 12 neon tetras like it in there. Just some concerns.

The pleco doesn't look particularly full, I just got him a few days ago. However, he doesn't eat anything I give him. He just stays glued to the wall. I've read about feeding it fruit, and it doesn't even eat any shrimp pellets. The tank has good algae, but the pleco just stays in the log. I know they are nocturnal, but at night he doesn't even come out much. Recently he came out for a few hours, glued to the wall. He ignored the shrimp pellets. I don't try to feed anymore, because I am very concerned about my water quality. Last time I put an algae wafer in, no one touched it. I then picked out moldy bits of wafer over the next few days. Should I leave food in there longer? Anything they like specifically? Any tips or advice is appreciated.

i found that cuc and zucc worked great for my plecos it took awhile to get use to it but they got the hang of it. i wouldn't leave the fresh veggies in there anymore then a couple of hours then i would take it out and try again the next day. it took all of mine like three or four days to realize hey i can eat that. they almost have to stumple apon it first. also if you just got him it might take awhile before he calms down as i just bought a chocolate zebra pleco and it took him 5 days before i saw him eat or come out now hes all over the place, and eating everything even with the light on. good luck i hope all works out ok :)

Thanks a lot. Yeah, I found him outside in the morning, and he was there when I got back from school. I'm glad he's coming outside! I'll leave in some cucumber tonight and see what happens. But should I take out the seeds of the cucumber? He's big enough to eat them. Also, should I boil it?

i wouldn't boil i just rubber band mine to my drift wook also i don't know about the seeds mine is 6 inches and he eats it all and hes still alive :) i am glad to hear hes out and about, it just takes time for them to get settled in thats all.
