Ok Davo, I dont keep up with television whatsoever,so explain this to me please, seen that song live a few times though and it did kill by the way.

x factor is basically a crap reality tv show where they offer a million pound record deal to the winner. They have auditions up and down the country and its all recorded and put on tv. The judges choose the best... 50 or so and they all compete in remaining episodes with the public voting people out. Eventually you get a winner. They then rush a song out to capitalise on it's popularity (19 million people watched the final... not far off a third of the uk population) and the last time theres been a xmas number one that wasn't the x factor winner was 2003.

Basically an underground internet thing telling everyone who is fed up with this boring commercial excuse for music to buy RATM killing in the name of and it just escalated so everyone downloaded the single and it became a "rebellious" number one. Rage promised the uk free gig if they got to number one... so I'll just wait patiently for my ticket to come in the mail. :D
