Where The Wild Things Are
I was planing to add three small silver aros around 4"-6" with some 4" spotted gars but the gars will only eat live food? how should go about that? i was thinking feeding the silvers 1st with blood worms and krill then once their full give the gars some feeders? i want them all off feeders but i dont want to starve my young gars and causing health problems and dont worry about the right tank size. Got it covered =] got them in a 100 gal this is just my grow out for 7 months till i get 270 gal tank or bigger havent decided on which one yet.

thanks for the time guys and gals

Your plan sounds good. In fact, feeding the aros first might be a benefit to you. The gars may see this and start to go for and eat what the aros are getting. The aros may go for the feeders as well. But your plan sounds pretty good.

not bad of an idea, hopefully it comes out living together well as a community

that's not true, gars will take to dead foods, usually pretty easily

starving fish isn't a bad thing. in the wild, they can only eat what they find anyway. sometimes fish in the wild can go days without finding food. so you don't have to worry about causing health problems or anything like that, starving is perfectly fine.

just get ur silvers, and feed what u want. the gars will start eating whatever's thrown in, especially if you feed the aros and they see the aros going crazy about something. they will want to know whats going on n try for them selves. happened with my gars. got them at like 7 or 8 inches and they were on feeders only. a week later they ate pellets/krill/shrimp/anything

Funny that I am reading this thread cause my Aro totally ignores the feeders and devours pellets and brine shrimp-talk about weird. I would feed the Aro's food first-pellets, brine shrimp, blood worm, then put the feeders for the gar.
