hi there i am up grading to a 120x31x35in glass tank i think about 460g uk with sumps as big as i can fit , with 2 weirs with 12000l per hour turn over, would it handle 2in return pipes or two 1half in return pipes in each weir, and may be 6 300w heaters, its for ca/sa cichlids ,i was getting seabray to make it on site and have fresh water miricale mud sumps are they any good or help full to the system any help would be great thanks.i have a 250g uk 8 footer at the mo and it took some fine tuning but runs nice and quite it was made by seabray 2 all pipe work by me. 6 people to lift in, was going for acyrilic for new tank but was told glass is better if you can old tank glass what do u think.... 19mm glass and they can do renforced corners should last forever . ! thanks again

Hi

I'm planning a very similar set up, either 120x36x36 or 120x36x30". I was going to use 1, 2" drain in each wier (one wier either side of the tank with top and bottom scouring combs) and have the return split over three 1" pipes each with a ball valve, at one end of the tank to simulate a river (wanna keep open water predators).
I was thinking a 8,000 lph pond pump in the sump.
You might want to contact ND Aquatics for a build on site quote.
BTW, how much did Seabray quote you? Are they gunna do your sump(s) to?
I was quoted £2850 for an equvilent acrylic tank so I'll stick to glass and have it built on site.
19mm glass seems abit much. Thought 15mm would have been enough.

Hi guys sounds like there will be some new monster tanks in the uk soon,
ive just had a quote for a build on site tank only 102x32x28 high with one 2" drain each end and one 1.75" inlet from my 4ft sump from ND AQUATICS price was £1180 and i was planning on using an ocean runner 6500

Cheers steve

I thought about an ocean runner but when comparing output vs head hieght I'm leaning towards an aquamax eco pond pump. Better on power consumption too.
I recently sold my 8x2x2 ND Aquatics tank and was thinking about Seabray (didn't know ND did build on site). Seems a good price.
Not sure wether to go 36" tall, especailly with an open top lid, I'll be using my twin 150watt halides (love the shimmer).
Total tank will be around 60-66" tall!
As for sump design I'm thinking 60x24x24" with two 24"square sections in a drip tray wet/dry configuration for bio media then the end section for the return pump. Water level probably no more than 12"( or just to cover the pump).
And maybe 4, 300/400watt heaters in the sump also.

not had seabray price yet coming tuesday my 8 footer still looks like new .i asked for 19mm glass do you think thats a bit over kill then,i think i will go for 2 2in returns.im running 1 o/runner 6500 on spray bar and 2 new 3500 with 2 hydor 4s for extra movment on constant over flow with aquatronica best thing i ever brought with constant ro feed and reclycing waste ro water for constant fresh water conductivaty .

i run 1 and half inch return on that pump set up it could take a bit more but not much
and 2 1half in exits runs more silent and can use 2 600mm tmc fillter socks last about 3-4 day before thy need cleaning i will try 4 fillter socks/exits on the next tank or they will only last 2 days.may be.
