IN A PLACE
Did a usual water change. Water is 84 degrees. All of a sudden my new Motoro female, that Ive had for 2 months now, started swimming iradically, bumping into everything, swimming upside down....and is now laying at the bottom of the tank, still upside down!!!! Dont understand what is going on, she's been perfectly healthy & happy swimming & enjoying her tankmate all day.

Should I turn her right side up/around? Or leave her to fight it out?
Let her be? Nitrates & water are perfect. Nothings affecting other ray in tank!?

She appears to be gasping /coughing while upside down!!

Airstone already in place for months now.

Time Critical!!! Please help!!!

At this point there is nothing really you can do. Looks like the ray will die. It's hard to take care of that small of a stingray. Don't say you water is perfect b/c no has perfect water. Do a full test on your water. If you don't have all the testers then take your water to the LFS. It's something wrong with your water. Maybe something is stressing her you but it's most likely your water. Good luck and let us know what your water reads.

I wish I could help but the only thing that comes to mind are possible gill flukes since water parameters are good and tankmates are fine. Maybe the parasites affected the small ray first?

Just a wild guess :(

I hope she comes around for you good luck man

maybe u did too much of a water change. at this point don't be surprised if it dies. small stingrays like that are fragile anyways. good luck!

I have an Arowana in the tank, along with 2 turushuki catfish, and another 5" male Motoro tankmate. All I can think of is, she may have swam up and ate a Sera Pellet meant for the Arowana, and now may have Swim Bladder?

Prazi-Pro has already been administered when in quarantine, and no noticable signs of Gill-flukes at all. The water parameters in the safe zone 20 parts per million nitrates, and no nitrites.

;-( I turned her right side up. She's rested for a while. Now she is trying to swim it off again.... seems like she has some kind of air bubbles??? (i.e. the coughing upside down & swimming to the top real hard, then sinking to the bottom on her side... very hard to watch!!!! All lights are off in the room, with only the moon lights on, to relieve any stress.

Anymore suggestions/treatments or experience with this????
Thankyou, Mrs. Knobhill

is her bottom red? check for ammonia...imo the temp should be lower, although i don't think this caused it...

what was she eating, when was the last time she ate? If her poo was white and stringy more than likely parasite.

also how much of a water change did you do?

she ate this afternoon. havnt seen her feces/color/or consistency :-( she looked her usual pink color on bottom, but hard to say now. Lights off, im trying to let her rest, which seems to help, in between her consistent irradic swimming behavior, as though she's struggling w/ pain or bloat in some way ;-( Seems like she's trying to swim it off real hard, but then quickly loses energy & sinks down again, flailing lifelessly.... :-( She started this before the water change, but then slowly worsened....so if anything, water change just stressed her out I think. ?? anyways.... I hope she makes it ;-(
