I poste in teh cichlid forum before I realized there wa a fish health forum sorry, so here is the story,

Yesterday I noticed a spot on my kenyi where his scales looked a little "ruffled" I thought maby he had just scraped himself hard on a rock of something like that.

Today i just noticed it has turned into a big white spot.

Pictures posted.

I turned up the heat to 80 and added salt but not sure what else to do ?

You are probably correct in that he scraped himself the "white stuff" is probably a secondary bacterial infection raising the temp and salt should help. You may also want to do nice size water change and add some melafix to promote healing.

Good luck

Yeah I would add some melafix. Also you should keep your mbuna tank around 80 degrees cuase that is more of an adaquete temp for them. I actually kept my african tanks at 82.

I just did a 50 percent water change two days ago and re arranged the rockwork,

the tank is at 80 right now i'll turn it up a bit.

Wife's bringing home some melafix tonight

Sounds like you are doing the right thinks, he should get better in no time.

Good Job in most cases a healthy fish can bounce back from a small infection on their own. With all the help your giving him he should be fit as a fiddle in no time :)
