UPDATE!!
There is a white stuff sprouting in the bottom of my FH. What is that? Is it also a display of its aggressiveness towards the other FH?

Or is it an illness? Is it bulging anus? How to cure?
:(:(:(:(

It's either an anal prolapse or it's a girl! Lol! ;) It has female characteristics to me. Watch for eggs soon. If your sure it's a boy. Start the epsom salt treatment asap.

It is a he I suppose. I checked before and its a he. Now I am no longer sure. I am getting confused with its gender now. I have seen one like my FH on youtube and its a she with a sprouting white stuff in the bottom but the one on the video is a breeding female.
I have searched over the internet between the difference of anal prolapse and breeding tube, but most look alike especially when the anal prolapse is in its early stage. o_Oo_Oo_Oo_O
It will be confirmed as anal prolapse once it turns red but i can't wait to let that happen.

That white stuff sprouting from its bottom was a bit tubelike last night. Then this morning it has become bigger with little circles on one side of the sprouting white tube.

Btw, will it damage the egg if ever I treat it with epsom salt? just if ever my FH turns out to be female and is really breeding. I wanna make sure.

Just wait. My bet is what you thought was a he is a she. Pics are kinda blurry. But I see what looks like an egg tube. ;)

:oops: If its a she so then how long will it be till it lay eggs?

Is it possible for the flowerhorn to lay eggs even if there is a divider between my FH on the photo and the other FH in the tank?

My two FH have not come in close contact. Though both look at each other through the divider. The divider by the way has a very small gap in the bottom enough for the poop of that FH in the photo to pass through to the other side of the tank where the other FH and the filter is located. Is it possible for the two of them to breed in that way? o_Oo_O

It shouldn't be long. You might wake up tomorrow and see eggs! I've heard reports of people placing a ceramic plate adjacent to the divider and adjusting the flow so that the water moves towards the plate being successful. But I haven't done it that way myself.

:eek::eek::eek: Guess I'll wait then. I'll update if there are any eggs.

UPDATE:
Here is a closer photo of my FH, outside the aquarium, and the swelling thing in its bottom.
I've done 50% water change already. And added salt to the water for treatment just in case this is anal prolapse. The swelling is somewhat pinkish/reddish when my FH is not in the water. Did the treatment just to make sure the swelling won't worsen.
But if it is a she and lay eggs, then I would be glad that my FH is not ill.
