help&advice please on triangle cichild

hi everyone , i have two triangle cichild. i was thinking that there was a male and a female because they are of different colour and the lighter in colour is smaller too . but yesterday i saw them like kissing on their lips .( a sort of fighting) i was thinking that they were mating , but this morning there were bruises on their lips . please tell me if they are male and female or both males? should i seperate them or ...

Uaru are almost impossible to sex, lip locking isn't uncommon between them. If you get more of them, assuming your tank is big enough - they will start to shoal rather than fight.

you are correct Sir !!!!

a little lip locking will not hurt her/him.

the only way to tell them apart is that the female will be on the one laying the eggs

my 2 lip lock and fight a little that looks like courtship but they are too young and small. could just be having a little tiff. it does get you a little excited though when you think a semi rare (in the uk at least) fish might be mating in you tank.
good looking fish though.

thanks for the advice . i will let them in the same tank for the meantime . hope they are just making or doing some courtship .

Most people just call them Uaru, which is the genus.
