Hi all

Pretty new to MFK, just shall we say I do all my research on here. I have got 2 Oscars which are amazing, pride and joy. I have been thinking lately of making them a new home. Now this is where my questions come in, and there is a few. So please bear with me.

The only problem I have with keeping them is the dirt at the bottom of the tank, as all dirt drops to the bottom. So I have had an idea. how about having 1-1.5" drain holes one on each side and two in the back to the sump as a filter but also as a sort of built in bottom tank vac.

The drain holes should have strong enough flow to clear all debris and dirt dropped from tank, straight through filter socks then sump.

The tank will be glass bottom to ensure stay clean.

Is this possible with a glass tank. I am thinking around 150 - 200 g. Or can it be done with a diy tank?

All responses greatly appreciated

Thanks

I seen a video on Youtube with that type of set up. I was blown away by it. I am going to try and find it.

If you go without substrate, it is entirely possible. If you want substrate, I would recommend a bigger sized gravel and some sort of screen to prevent it from going down the drains.
