I posted this below but no replies and I was hoping that I would have some by now. Ok so here it is. My flagtail has 2 anchor worms attached to its upper dorsal fin. Just noticed it this afternoon. No other fish show signs of any anchor worms or scratching on the rocks below(besides my Frontosa). I just got done treating the tank with CopperSafe treated the whole tank. I waited a bit and then added salt slowly to the tank and treated 90 gallons

This is all happening in a 180 gallon tank:cry:  . Been setup for about 3 to 4 weeks.

My Stock is as Follows
10" Silver Arowana
8" Blood Parrot
12" Royal Clown Knife
7"-10" Clown Loaches x4
6" Flagtail
5"-6" Geophagus dicrozoster x4
5" Angel fish
5" Frontosa

I am just curious if I can treat the tank with dimilin or parasite tabs were the active ingriedent is praziquantel

Tonight i am going about to netting the flagtail out and plucking the two anchor worms off the top fin. It should be a blast. If there is anything to do or anything to add it would be greatly appreciated:headbang2

No replies? My dad came home and we netted the fish out and he plucked the two worms off by the heads and then swabbed the area with an antibiotic ... only time will tell....:nilly: :nilly:

Keep a close eye on the other fish for more worms.

The worms that attach to the fish, the ones that you can see, the ones you pulled off are the females.

The males are small and free swimming, they mate, then die.....the females are the ones that re attach to the fish.

In a nut shell, you might have many small ones free swimming and will re attach to the fish.....you should treat, but not too sure on the right course of action.

There is a product called Dimilin, I have used it twice on anchorworm and it killed them off both times. PetSmart should carry it in hte pond section but you can also get it online.
