Hi everyone,

I have owned an asian red arowana for a few years, but for the past few days its been very strange, its noramlly very active and always swimming, for the past few days when no one is in the room at night it sinks to the bottom and stays there until someone is in the room?? Any ideas why?

Also i have just put an Red tail Giant Gourami 6" in there today, luckily he doesnt want to eat him! But very strange...when the van delviered the RTGG, it looked really nice in the bag, dark colour skin nice colour eyes and medium red in the tail, put him in the tank and switch all lights off, came back sometime later in the evening and his dark skin turned pale and also most concerning is there is a bit of white stuff on him???????????????????

Any advice on both parts please??!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Andrew

Ok clarified that the RTGG has white spots, but still the arowana stays at the bottom of the tank when no one is in the room???

how Big is the tank? If it doesn't have enough room to move or has to much trouble turning it may have just started resting on the bottom until it sees someone and comes up for food.

Check ur water parameters wats ur ph, temp?

Havernt checked any of it yet, but temp is 28 degrees. The RTGG definately has white spots all over and its mouth seems a little broken too!, as for the arowana the lfs and I think it could have some parasites. Just brought some waterlife protozin, hopefully this does the job!

Tank is a good size, check the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates as they could be the problem, what do you feed it? If you are giving it feeders there is a high chance it's a parasite.

The Giant Gourami could be messing with the Arowana when you're not noticing... GG's are pretty nasty. Arowana could fight back and seriously mess it up.

Or maybe it was just sickly stock that you ordered.
