Hi, i Got a EBJD about a mother or 2 ago. Put him in a empty 20g.

He was about 2" had some nice very bright color.(was pretty expensive 2)
He has not seemed to grow(doing water changes 2times a week) feeding flakes,Cichlidgoldpellets,Frozen Beefheart/blackworms/brineshrimp/mysisshrimp, and live blackworms. He wont eat floating food either.

Long story made short i decided it was time to empty my 60g and put my Green terror(4.5") and flowerhorn(5") in my 125g my oscar(8") and jag(6.5").

That is also the tank i plan to add the Dempsey in when he is grown enough to not get destroyed.

So i go the the fish store down the road to get some stuff. They had 2.5" Flowerhorns (about 50 of them) that were stunning for 18$. Ive seen lesser flowerhorns going on the net for over 60 at that size. So i had to get one(probally gonna give my friend the other flowerhorn and replace it with this one when the time comes mainly becuase the other one looks like a total different species compared to the color on the new one).

I added the new flowerhorn with the dempsey on the same day. They seemed to be gettin along fine.

This morning i see that my EBJD is a little beat up!!!! I also had a 6" pleco in the 60g. i cant tell rather the Flowerhorn did it or the pleco.(the pleco was chasing him and the flowerhorn out of a decoration). The flowerhorn does seem to chase him around a bet also.

I removed the Pleco. But if it was the new flowerhorn do you think i should put my EBJD in back in the 20G. Or should i wait it out. I dont want him to die.

Also is there anything elce i can do to get him to grow faster?

Thanks Wofgon.

Sorry about bad grammer :(

I decided to put a divider in their tank. The EBJD will not eat tho. I plan to do a 20% water change and add some Salt to help him heal. Hopefully he will get better before worse.

i have a pair of ebjds and they eat fine... i would say just do the treatment and hope for the best... if push comes to shove just take the flowerhorn out... why lose a $40 fish to a $18 dollar fish?????

I got home from work tonight and the EBJD got over or around the divider somehow. He was on his side all ripped up. I did him a favor. And im now out 30$. Good thing i know a local breeder because i really wanted to rise a EBJD. Better luck nexttime i guess.

RIP Bluey

wow.. that sucks.. thats a nice EBJD too.. i dont think u should raise EBJDs again unless u have a tank for them... Flowerhorns are NOT a good mix with EBJDs.... or get better dividers...

But.. i dont think u should get anymore EBJDs until u have a new tank for the EBJDs..

I agree on not getting another. I wont get another EBJD unless i can get my hands on a 4" one. I'm going to wait until the flower horn grows some, and then put him in my 6' with my Oscar 8" and green terror 5". The long plan though was to have my oscar, green terror, flowerhorn, and Dempsey in the same tank. :(
