Hi... i recently purchased a large breeding pair of angels...introduced them to my 30x15x18 planted/wood tank....all was fine and dandy...now the male is chasing and attacking the female...only neons, corys, a loan guppy (refuses to die lol) and a pair of sailfin mollys...

Now seen as i havent bred cichlids in over a year and a half i cant remember half of the tricks i used to know, and struggling with behaviour...but from what i can remember this is cos' the male wants to breed and she doesnt right?? alot of lip locking and biting going on as well, no damage to either tho...so what im asking, is the breeding tempermant ?? just the female doesnt want in till she is ready?? thanks

It seems like you have a 35 gallon, right? This behavior is common for a breeding pair that is ready to spawn. I have been trying to breed my Angels for a couple of months and I don't know if I even have a pair yet. I would crank up the heat to 83 if your tank is not already at that temp. I would start feeding frozen bloodworms to entice them to breed. Although I have not been succesful with Angels I have bred many other Cichlids. Good Luck! PM me if any questions!

Sounds like standard behavior for angels. Do you have any sheltered spots in the tank? How big are the angels?

i used to have angels and a silver arowana in the same tank. the angels nipped the arowana's fins for fun all the time!!

Sounds typical. Its a small tank,if he is beating her too bad you may need to put in a divider for a few weeks.
