a few weeks ago i went to the pet store and saw a baby cortez stingray for sale. me wanting a marine biologist when i get older (im a junior in highschool) really wanted it. the man at the store said a 55G tank should be good for just the stingray and that all ill really need is sand, no liverock. and he said he would make my water since our tap water isnt exactly pretty.

my mom told me if i get more information, i can get a tank and get started.

so, any information is going to be an extreme help!

thanks abunch guys! (:

Welcome to our site! You picked the right place for sure.

Sadly, the 55 will be a bit small for the ray as it grows up. We can go into details if you want on the 'how and why' - but I tend to talk too much.

The guy at the store may or may not have been doing you a favor with the water idea. Some tap water does suck, but some is ok. He was probably just making extra money trying to charge you for it. You might not need to buy from him, and just make your own saltwater at home.

If you do some searching in this section on cortez, round and yellow rays (very similar in care/needs), you'll find a lot of info.

Feel free to keep asking questions and stick around!
