Wrong section, buddy.

The cure is frequent water change.

:iagree: and Welcome to MFK!!!

You need to keep the nitrate level down with frequent water changes.

Do you have a water test kit? What is your nitrate reading?

Poor water quality is most likely, but a bacterial infection is possible as well. The less likely but still possible are physical damage, and poor nutrition.

agree agree agree-its bad water quality.Do a 50% water change and check your parameters-most likely ammonia is causing this along with nitrates.Get some prime to detoxify this and do daily water changes until your levels come down. You also want to get a good air pump and some box filters preferbly to push the water up from the bottom of the tank and cause more water movement so any harmful gases will push up out of the tank. Also leave about 2-3" of water out of your tank so the filters "splash" the water.Basically turn your tank into a river~ so to speak~ with a lot of moving water on the surface and bottom. You want larger air bubbles not fine.
As someone else said, it could also be bacteria issues but not very common.
How big is it and what size tank?
