Hi, I have a boulengerella maculata ( mosaic gar or whatever you want to call it) and a tiger musky that are both about 6" long and growing at about the same rate. The gar has been in the tank longer than the musky. Every time the musky has an encounter with another fish (puffer biting his fin or crappie coming face to face with him, etc.) the gar comes over right after and kind of runs into the musky with his nose. This has happened multiple times ad one time the gar even opened his mouth but did not bite. In the past they have kind of hung out together and sat next to eachother in the tank so is the gar looking after the musky and making sure hes ok or protected or is he showing his dominance and maybe trying to fight or attach the musky? PICS of them too!
