Ive owned arowanas for over 10+ years. Before you say its water parameters I can honestly say its not. Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 ph a bit high 7.6(steady) .This has been a well established tank for years until I sold my fish. (One thing to mention I did take a small filter from a goldfish tank and added it to the HOF for emergency)

I recently got another arowana 3-4weeks ago and seemed to do just fine the first week.

(1st week)
I "think" I spooked it by dropping a large amazon box down the stairs. Ever since then I realized the fish has been very skittish and scared. It would dart and bang on the glass at times when I walked in and stay on one part of the tank. I have caught it resting on the floors until I walk in.

(2nd week)
I did rescape and remove all the gravel from the tank since I knew it would collect the fallen shrimp from the ground and didn't want it to accidentally ingest a stone. BARE TANK by itself. Fish always stayed on one side of tank so I added a wavemaker. Since it showed no improvement I took it away.

(3rd week)
It looks like the tail was "burnt" slightly with a lighter thats the best way I can describe it. A little darkening and shortening in the upper part of tail(nothing white that says fin rot to me). I quickly did 20-30% water change then this morning I saw a pimple like growth on the top of the eye of the fish.

What are your thoughts or opinions? What could it be?
I "might" of cross contaminated the tank is all i can think of when I transfered a small goldfish biomedia bag to this tank.

It actively swims but parks it self on one side of the tank still. I have started to do daily 20%wc and salt.
Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like a stressed and unsettled fish with a heater burn or something. Wouldn’t change too much to the tank anymore. Would put back some decor in the tank. Dim lights and add some dithers to the tank and floating plants. This may help to improve things.

Eventual time and patience may resolve all this.

Thats what I thought as well. I might of stressed the fish over a short amount of time. He did "HIde" near the heater which I thought of maybe burning it since the tail doesnt look like any type of infection. The pimple over the eye now concerns me. It doesnt have the biggest appetite yet but will eat what it wants. I always try to avoid any medications. I will do wc daily and salt and see how it does.

A picture would help understand it more.. Also what Arowana it is and size?

From the description, of tail, if its not the heater, then it could be fin-rot. It happens during transport, due to stress and water parameter issues. If water quality is maintained, and increase temp and adding a bit of aquarium salt would help improve it over few weeks.

If in case you doubt the gold fish filter, please remove it immediately.

Also the bubble on the head, possibly could be head-rot. From my understanding on reading about head-rot, mainly caused by activated carbon media in filters, are you having carbon inside filter?

Old filter and carbon was removed before treatment about 2-3days ago. This picture here in this thread is exactly what I'm experiencing https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/the-lump-on-th-eye-of-my-silver-arowana.648100/

Salt and daily treatments has been done the past 2-3days but the eye seems to be getting worst. The tail burn is the least of my concern as of now. Should I go straight to antibiotics? I was thinking erythromycin?

This doesnt seem to be head-rot in my view, and seem to be an infection/injury to the eye. Looking at the pics, I am afraid the Aro is going to lose one of its eye. But it would survive, just take care. I have seen this in a some Gold fish, while ageing their eye just pops out and falls down, I have no idea why.

That photo was not mine just an example. Its not to that extent but bad enough for me. It's definitely some sort of infection. I treated it with some antibiotics yesterday and saw a HUGE improvement! It's swimming more activitly and eye swelling has went down.
