Help arowana

Hi guys,
my arowana is very skittish. He is around 9'', he hangs near the power head all day. Only time he swims is during feeding time.
Tank is 5x2x2. tankmates are ornate and delhezi bichirs
Anything I can do to make him active.
 
Give him time mate :) you could start offering food from your hands , this gets them used to human interaction and builds trust quicker , if hes feeding he'll take it with a bit of time

He already comes very close during feeding time, however afterwards he sneaks back to the filter like a catfish. Shoud I add dithers?
 
No mate its an Asian rtg , you could add a few see if its brings him out mate , try sd's or tinfoils

nah mate that wont work. I have plants in my tank. Was thinking of adding my two albino IDS sharks from the pond until arowana settles in
 
I found out the problem it was due to too much flow in the tank. Iam going to change to a external filter
 
How's your aro getting on mate ? I've been on holiday for past week :D
