How do you start them? Never had one.

I just bought a 125 with everything (and I mean everything, down to fake plants and about 20 suction cups) and It came with 2 rena canister filters xp3 and xp2 I believe. I have the tank full, everything set up, spray bars, brand new hosing.

I hav eno idea how to start them. Do I fill the canister with water? I am really lost, I don't want to wreck it, and I don't have any directions.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

OK Ok I tried the thing suggested in teh online manual and it didn;t work. It was noisy and no water was moving. There is some slack in my tubing but absolutely no kinks. I mean its not straight up and down, it has some curl to it. But it has like some air stuck in it.

I think it is the same sort of thing though, filling up the canister then the tubing, but there is a little air pocket in the intake tube, This sucksorz.

I am going to keep making attempts here.

XP3 fairly easy to prime, open quick disconnect lock so water won't run into canister. Canister can be empty. open cap on intake use funnel pour water into intake tube, make sure intake strainer/spray bar outlet is under water. Place quick disconnect lock back in the socket, close so water runs into canister, water should start flowing into the inlet with air burping out of the spray bar outlet........once air stops, plug in unit, let run. if neccessary unplug and burp unit by releasing lock and then rengaging ..plug back in and go....I have over 7 XP3's never had trouble priming, first one is always a little tricky...........GL

it worked !!!

thansk so much to everyone who helped, and MFK for such a good group of people and functional forums.

I am so excited for my barebottom 125!!! Oscar is going to really appreciate the extra 2 feet from the 75.

Unplug it/them. Raise the shutoff lever/s,(they call it the "quick disconnect"), but don't remove it. Remove the intake caps, and pour them full of water. Replace the caps snugly, lower the shutoff levers, and gravity should take over, filling the cans. If not, check the hoses for air leaks.
With good hose seals and a proper first prime, you should only have to ever repeat this if you change the hoses or otherwise remove the intakes from the tank.
Once the cans. are full and have sat for a couple minutes, plug 'em in and make sure they pump to the tank.

EDIT: Mr Pleco beat me to it. Glad you got them running.
Nice avatar BTW, nevermind the O.
