Hey there guys

Ok, I did a 25% water change on my 5x2x1.5, so 106ltr (28gallon).
Its a newly set up and tank has only had fish in it for about a week now after brewing it for a month. The tank houses african cichlids so i use the Gh, Kh buffers like normal.
However, Im a bit concerned about the amount of buffer i had to apply based on the recommendations on the packaging.
I had to use the following amount of buffer:
1 Tspn KH
15 Tspn GH
53 Drops Tri-Start

When I re-filled the tank and put this buffer in there, it just made one massive cloudy mess!

Its been 30 minutes since the water change, but its still extremely cloudy and Im scared its going to harm my fish? Can someone lighten me on the subject, and tell me if i have done something wrong or is this cloudyness normal for the amount of buffer i had to apply.

Thanks in Advance Guys.

what type of africans are you keeping? I have had all different types, from mbuna to haps to peacocks. The only thing that I use in my tanks is either aragonite or crushed coral substrate, and when I do a water change I use prime for the cl2 and maybe a little baking soda to increase hardness. There should be no need for anything else, unless your dealing with wild caught fish then some cichlid salts/minerals.
To clear up the cloudiness.. if you have a diatom filter you can borrow this would clear it up quick. If not, then you may have to change the water again, maybe 50% this time. The cloudiness should not harm the fish, it may just irritate their gills a little.
I would not add the buffer again until the cloudiness clears up.

I keep 8 frontosa's, 2 Cyrtocara moorii, 3 Rastratus, 1 Dimidiochromis strigatus and a common Pleco. Ive been told Limestone is good also, but i cant get ahold of ANYTHING, have tried absolutely everything. I didnt wanna use all the buffer but I got told by my LFS to keep it buffered, but I dunno... Just want the best for my fish
