I'm not sure but falling tank temperature might soon be an issue before oxygen depletion and then the bacteria die off might become another at some point.
So many different factors....how big of a tank? How big and how many rays? Did your house lose heat? If so, what climate...what's the outside temps? For example...if you had two or three medium size rays in a 600 gallon tank in a warm climate, they could probably go a few days and be ok. Small tank, heavily stocked, or cold climate....not good
I believe oxygenation to be the fastest ticking clock here. Are you prepared? Generators onsite? Friends, family or neighbors with access to call?
Colder water holds more dissolved oxygen so the lower end of the tolerable range might benefit you. Best of luck. I know exactly how feel right now. I travel internationally for work, I've been through it all.
Hello; If stingrays are somehow different than other fish my experience may not apply.
I have had the power go off for up to three -four days during cold weather with no loss of fish. That my tanks are now lightly stocked is likely the single most important factor.
The temperature in the house was down in the lower 50's F as were the tanks. I slowly warmed the tanks back up and all was fine.
I do not feed during a power out which is reported to reduce oxygen consumption and to reduce the buildup of metabolic byproducts.
Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. Power was of for longer for what was said. Was of for 9 and a half hours!Just arrived home and fish are all o.k. What a relief! Didn't have any backup. That will be sorted out this weekend.

You can get a cheap one at harbor freight if you're in US. It's a manual standalone unit, but good until you can hard wire one in. Pick a few trusted souls. Give them keys and access and train them what to do while you're away in case of emergency. My alarm company and power company alert during power outages which is nice.
