LV Golden Knights!
So i purchased 2 piquiti from rapps and the larger of the two is looking very healthy. He's eating pretty much everything I throw at him. The smaller one still hasnt shown an interest in food really, his stomach is still sunken in. After seeing doviiman's thread and hearing about how his died all of the sudden, I'm beginning to worry there is a intestinal parasite of some sort.

Can you guys recommend a medication I should use to treat it before its too late?
gonna be difficult to explain to my girlfriend how our $250 + shipping died after less than a week.

Gut load feeders with crushed pellets and feed them to your Azul.

I bought two also and one mysteriously died after only 2 days, hope u aren't getting the same situation

If the little guy is eating feeders then I wouldn't worry about it. Baby cichla have REALLY high metabolism. If the bass isn't eating, then it most likely die from starvation (IMO). Plus, I have never had a cichla die from a parasite nor have I seen anything about cichla having them.

Qting the azul and gut loading feeders , I haven't ever used any but have you got any of those vitamens you can soak your pellets in ? I was just thinking it might help give him the stregth to over come what ever this might be .

I am so sorry that your in this position, I really hope your lil one pulls through

I forgot to add I just got some little orino's from snookin21 and at first I couldn't get them to eat anything and since there isn't any place around here that sells feeder guppies, I thought i would try some california black wroms that I feed me and my wifes rays and they Love them , they have nice plump belllies, Have noticed some really good growth also just guestamatiing I would say a solid 1/2 inch and I got them on the 23

he ate a tiny piece of shrimp this morning. Gonna get him some feeders today.

Try live black worm and ghost shrimp as well. Lucky's might have some. Try everything to get that little guy eating.

It seems as Rapps fish have had this problem before. The kelberi and broko's over the past few imports. Internal parasites have been a common problem w/ the kelberi. And I have seen a few of his broko's die off as well. I remember venom had a lg broko die off for not much reason. IMO, its not worth putting the fish up for sale until they are qt'd for a while. I have not heard a single issue w/ any of Wes, Rich or John's(snookn), cichla imports. They are delicate at such a small size. BUt for more than one person to have issues w/ their azuls in such a short time frame seems kinda fishy to me.

There could be a stress issue with the fish from being imported 1 day to being immediatly shipped to customers another day. Rapps listed them for sale 1 day and 2 days later all sold out. I'm curious to know how long he had them acclimating in his facility before shipping to customers.
I know if I was a vendor who imported fish , I would wait at least a couple weeks to acclimated and destress the fish before selling to customers. Not to mention you would have to anticipate a few weaker fish may die out as well.
