Hey all! I’m in the process of upgrading to a 180 gallon tank and today one of my Balas jumped out of the tank and hurt his head pretty bad and it looks like his eye could be hurt? I put him back in and treated the tank with Pimafix and Melafix. I notice his eye is foggy now too. Did it cause him to go blind? Here’s the videos

The Bala Shark will be fine but keep water in pristine conditions.

About all you can do is keep the water clean and see if it clears/heals.It just might if there wasn't too much damage to the surface of the eye.

Thanks guys! I’m devastated! I lost one a while back from jumping out the tank and now this! While in the process of setting up the 180, ugh! I hope the poor guy isn’t going to be blinde out of that eye.

A few weeks ago one of my balas spooked and hit itself. It's eye went all cloudy like yours. Within a few days it cleared up. I wouldn't worry too much just yet, just make sure your water is pristine to stave off potential infection.

My concern is that you say you lost a bala a while ago through jumping out, now this fella has jumped out. Do you not think you need to address your aquarium lid situation, it's obviously not suitable?

I promise I thought I did! He escaped through the filter opening, this one literally knocked a section of the top off the tank to get out!! My 180 has a much more secure top. I can’t believe this happened before the upgrade to my 180, ugh!!

Here is how the eye looks now.

Eye doesn’t look bad. Should recover. Keep the water clean. No stressful tankmates.
