i have two 5-6 in bass i believe monos in a 100g all to themselves. the past two days when the lights have turned have they will go at it. Gills puffed out and really dark colors. Is this normal behavior? should i seperate them or what? it doesnt happen in the daytime though.

Dithers. Silver dollars, Giant dino's Etc.

anything besides showing displays? if not, it's normal and could still be depending on how severe. what species?

Pretty normal imo my orinos go at it constantly lights on or off.:nilly: Keep an eye on them make sure they dont get beat up to badly, missing scales torn fins. Probanly wouldnt hurt to add some dithers also.

silver dollars did the trick for me and also helped get my pbass on pellets!!!

cool ill try that that...i watched them last night and they dont really do damage just kind of flash at each other

do you think tetras would work as dithers cuz i actually already have one tetra in the tank lol my friend just gave him to me

Silver dollars are good because they get fairly large (6"+ I think). I was thinking about doing a cichla only tank, but after reading threads on here about aggression problems, I decided to get some dithers, and silver dollars seemed like a good route.

edit: Just re-read that you have a 100g with only the 2 peacock bass in there....how big as the bass? You'll have to make sure the silver dollars aren't too small.

There are 8 silver dollars in this vid I took a couple nights ago (right before the ich outbreak...have been treating the tank since and only 1 casualty. They seem to have gotten through the worst of it and look MUCH better today than yesterday...and are actually schooling again and aggressively feeding again. Yesterday only 4 were schooling/eating). I like them more than I thought I would, and ordered 2 more from the LFS this week :) have to wait to this ich is long-gone though...
