on an icecube.....
two daysa ago i added a 2.5-3" baby silver arow to my 34g tank with 2 CLs 4" & 1.5" and 6" fire eel, it was a littel beat up from the other arows at the store up seemed pretty active and was eating smelt yesterday, but when i turned on the tank light today it was on the bottom with its backend chewed up(tail fin and scales/skin missing) i think it was big CL, i put it in a net breeder for now(the CL is getting moved infew days to a 75g)but its just resting on the bottom and isent intersested in food, i added about 6 tablespoons of salt to the tank and the temp is 81-82 i was going to get some malafix but is it safe for the CL and fire eel ive never used it before? is there anything eles i can do?

I've never had a problem using melifix with CL's. I would use the melafix at full strengh and maintain good water qualitiy and observe, should start to improve in a few days. Dark colors on wounds is normal for healing, be on the watch for red an white - infection. Also consider increasing temp to 84-85 F.

Good Luck.

If ya can get him in a seperate tank, dose with aquarium salt 1 Tablespoon per ten gallons, Add dosage of melafix and raise temp to 85 degrees. I also like to add air stone to raise oxegen too.

Good luck.

Melafix shouldn't hurt anything. If this is a big tank, get Pondcare Melafix, it is much more concentrated, and about the same price.

sorry i dont have a pic(no camera)hes acting pretty listless and is still on the bottom:( , iam thinking it might be infected but i dont see how it could get that bad just overnight, and iam thinking of filling a 20g half full with a sponge filter to medicate him and my fire eel(has some kind of tail fungus)has anyone had an arow this small recover from an illness injury?

don't use the damn melafix. It isn't worth the trouble. raise the temp in your current tank to 82 degrees and dose the tank for 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons not ten. Every fish you currently have in the tank will be fine at this level. I have the exact stock list you have plus a couple of fish and I keep this amount of salt in my tank at all times. also keep the water very clean with frequent water changes

thanks for your help guys but despite puting him in a QT tank and doseing with melafix and salt this morning he was dead:( , i think he may have had a disease sence for some reason the back half of his body was mutch lighter colored than the front and he was haveing trouble moveing last night, now begins the search for a new baby slver i gess this time a larger one....

sorry to hear it. try and find one from the 4-6" range. they are alot less fragile.
