should i be worried? i find him time to time chillin by the water heater and all it does is hangout there, maybe Zeus is just trying to catch the guppy feeder fish i threw into the tank for him or maybe something else what can i add to my tank to make him more comfortable? i just got drift wood and gravel thanks im very concerned i love my bichir and wouldnt want anything to harm it =[ and when i first got him he was very shy always hiding under drift wood and had a missing fin that is behind his gills also very recently he finnally swims around the tank and looks so beautiful. his tank mates are 3 feeder goldfish (my gfs dumb fish) and a chinese algae eater and likes to swim up and down the tank in the corner where his driftwoods is at heres a video of some of his behavior

I wouldn't be too concerned assuming tht your water parameters are fine, it just looks as if he needs some time to get used to you and the tank.

Yeah bichirs like to chill a lot ahah. And as for the video maybe he is hungry when he sees you? My bichirs swam to the tank when I would walk into the room to feed them. As for the chilling part here is my new ornate who is LAZY as of right now aha.

my bichirs [ 3 youthfull delhezis n 2 adult sens] chill in the most akward spots its prolly normal i think i catch them sumtimes wedging them inbetween the glass n air pump hose to hold em like a hammok n catch a bubble meassage aswell they just characters

Agree! Totally normal! We have three and they wedge themselves into any little cevice they can find. I call them bichir hammocks :)

Besides that, from your pics, your little guy looks healthy and you mentioned that he's eating. Good luck with your little guy!!!

Yea all my birchirs do that. They just start going ballistic against the glass and then settle down on anything they can find. They some pretty chill fish.

hes fine, my delhezi when he was in the growout always used to sit up near the heater, its cause its a nice perch for them and it gives them easy access to gulp air at the surface. Senegals tend to swim around non stop but all the other bichirs I've kept spend all their time either hiding in fake plants, floating or leaning near the surface on objects.

trust me its totally normal don't worry about it!
