Hey All,
My baby Black aro about 5.5" just jumped out of my tank, it couldn't have been more than an hour, i found it on the floor, barely moving, i quickly threw it back into the tank and with in minutes it started to move around. Does anyone know if it will still make it??? Is there anything else that i should do?:(

Thanks in advance!

I have heard that they can be out of the water for up to ten minutes....but an hour....I don't know...keep a close eye on him and I hope it all works out for both of you!

Good luck

Is it swimming? Is moving it's mouth and gills?

ok...it's starting to swim around slowly. It's breathing, It doesn't seem like he's gasping though. will there be any brain damage or anything from him being out of the water. I can't say that he was out of the water for an hour. I brought in a piece of wood to measure for the stand, i guess it startled him and when i went out side he jumped. I was outside no more than an hour. I really hope he's going to be okay he's the whole reason i put this tank together. At least he's slowly swimming. Still open to any advice.

thank you!

Make sure the water is well oxygenated and clean. If he's still swimming and breathing (ie there's water moving over his gills) all you can do is hope.

Best advice; make sure the tank is well covered at all times so he can't jump out again!

Thanks for the help everyone. I do have a glass canopy, but i left it open after i feeding, i forgot to close it.
I was looking at his eyes, and both eyes are a bit cloudy...is that temporary? will it clear up as he gets better?
