I have a L007 Pleco that looks like he's filled with air, very bloated looking. But breathing very fast. But since their scales are almost like armor I cant tell if the scales are raised or not. Just from looking it looks like they are not raised.
I really don't want this pleco to die. He's about 7-8" long and my favorite Pleco by far .. Please help!

I just did a 20% water change 2 days ago and all the other fish seem fine. I isolated him into the hospital tank where I can watch him more closely. What should I do? :WHOA:

Been a rough week all around, lost a Dat in the other tank from strange causes as well.. no bloating though, just a red mouth, so I don't want to loose another good fish. How can I save him?

try to get him to eat some veggies - shelled peas would be best, but leafy greens or zucchini may help too. put a crushed clove of garlic in the pot as you bring water to a boil, and then blanch the veggies for just a few seconds to allow them to soften and pick up some garlic flavor. it should entice him to eat, and the extra fiber may help clear the blockage, if it is a digestive problem.

The build up of yellow pus means a bacterial infection causing abdominal dropsy, in plecos this is sometimes caused by a blockage due to not enough roughage in the diet.
Sorry about your loss.
