Came home last fry to about 60 blue acara fry and I got nervous because I have a community 65 gallon tank with red parrots and roseline sharks so I netted the fry out of the tank the best I could and put them in a 10 gallon tank. I setup the 10 gallon tank with a subversive power jet filter and I didn't feed the fry for the first couple of days as per direction from the fish store and then I started to feed them "New Life Spectrum Grow Fry Starter"....today I have no fry....can someone please tell me where I went wrong, as I expect that the parents will continue to have fry and I need to know how to take care of them :-(

The power of the filter did it, I would suggest leaving the fry with the parents next time until they get atleast 1 inch or so. If you decide to take them out use a sponge filter with air pump. I personally would place a sponge filter in the aquarium right now, so you wont have to worry about cycling.

Thanks so much for the help....this was my first experience with fry and I just followed what the fish store told me. As all the fry have now died....would you suggest I wash out the tank first before I set it up with the sponge filter? I just hope that my fish spawn again....I'm super nervous :-(

Thanks for the welcome.....I joined because I couldn't believe that all the fry died and I wanted to know what I needed to do better for next time....so I googled fish forums and this one came up....I'm totally new to the aquarium world....my tank isn't even 6 months old so that's why I am so nervous....I don't want to kill anymore fry but at the same time I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to care for the fry....any filter in particular that you would recommend and what about feeding?

Empty and rinse out the aquarium place the sponge filter in your main aquarium until the BA breed again. The sponge filter will be established with beneficial bacteria. Don't be nervous they will probably spawn again. :)

The parents will gain experience if you keep the fry in with them also some cichlid fry feed off the parents slime coat, but you can still offer fry food such as first bites or pulverize some pellet, flake.

Use a filter with slow flow and a sponge on the intake. Also, give them a couple of days before removing them if possible (but sometimes it's not). Although some may be eaten, the others will be hardier after a couple of days. I like to remove fry with a slow, wide siphon instead of a net which can damage them. Finally, I just fed my blue acara fry powdered flakes.
