I have 2 blue acaras in my 40 gallon that get along fine and swim around together constantly, they have been in the tank for about a week but today I noticed one of them was sitting in there cave when they then skidded on their side in the sand, a few seconds later the second acara did the same thing, anyone know what this is?

Probably developing ich from the looks of it. So you are saying, they’re flashing/rubbing their sides against the sand?

Oh yay another thread where we have to magically guess the disease with no information. Can you please post in the disease section where you will be given a prompt that will help you clarify things for us?

I should just have a template that I can copy and paste telling people to give us information about their fish.

They only did it just the once and my tank has: ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 6 ppm
My ph is at 7 and the tank temp is 26.5

Could be ich or some other parasite could be water parameters. Agree with kno4te kno4te need pics and parameters.

There is no other visible or behavioural signs that there is anything wrong with them just thought it was unusual

I don’t test my water myself I get it checked weekly so I’m not sure what they use, I know I should get my own kit but I haven’t done so yet.

If it’s flashing then it could be from the water or a behavior. Since not seeing anything. Would cont to keep the nitrates down like ur doing of the test is correct. Monitor.
