Hope I can help you here as I've made a few of these. First thing, do not use material under 2" for a height of 48". Sure many do but thats not the proper way to build, the tank will bow too much, create too much stress and will cause all kinds of problems later on such as internal crazing. Spend the $ and buy the right thickness.

Use 40 or 42 and keep the gaps between 4-6mm. I used granite slab lifters to suspend the panels while the cement sets. Overfill because it will shrink aobut 20%.

I have about 5 tons of 2.250 Polycast GP on hand, PM me and I'll tell you where to get it for a decent price.

IMG_0711.JPG Like this one? The prices given for acrylic are pretty accurate. Acrylic is a petroleum based product and prices fluctuate with the price of oil. Piedmont Plastics in Lakewood CO is pretty good and had some pretty good prices when I bought mine, the LV branch had crappy customer service and were to lazy to call me back so I advise against them. If your serious about building a tank like this out of acrylic there are only two choices IMHO. Polycast GP and R-Cast by Reynolds. Glass isnt a bad option either. Email me at phixer@mail.com
