my red devil has been acting super aggresive the last two days. i just took a closer look and she is protecting a whole batch of eggs. is it possible it bred with my JD? both fish are only 6" and what color would they be if they where fertile? they are like an off white/ gray now. she wont let any fish near them so i am guessing not fertile but why would she have laid eggs? should i take them out before she kills my clown knife who has a nice chunk missing all the sudden...

The white eggs are dead. Female cichlids have been known to spawn on their own with out the presence of a male. Remove whatever she laid them on. If she is still aggressive separate the fish.

yeah, most likely they are dead eggs, i use to have a flowerhorn that would spawn every once a while with dead eggs, so then i sold it to the LFS for it to have a partner.
