help! can anyone id my new pleco for me?

just got this guy from the lfs yesturday
he was in a tank with a 9 inch red devil and is pretty beat up. he is doing well now that he isnt being beat up anymore
he is about 7inch long
they gave me him for $8 so i had to get him
can anyone tell me what kind of pleco he is?

looks like Hypostomus plecostomus if it is it will grow to about 20"

i thaught so too but he seems to look different when viewed from the top. if i can i will get a better picture up very soon. thank you
