I can't find course filter pads for sale anywhere? I'm looking for the course blue filter pads for an FX5 they use to sell them all over about 6 months ago Now all I see is fine and polishing pads . any one know where to buy these did they stop making them ??

Google Jap matting, and cut it down

i would only run the sponge the filter pads plug up and cut off the water flow

Agreed, I run AC110 sponges cut to fit in the top tray, Works well at catching 90% of the debris. I change them about every 2-4 months as needed. I run a cheap Magnum 250 HOB for finer filtering as needed.

I used to run the blue Polyester Roll Filter, I got it about 1/2 price through work. But grew tired of frequent changing of pads.

I still use the blue roll pad in the 250 HOB, just sew them up to make a sleeve.

Sponges can be resused, Buy some good foam (AES carries some) and cut it to fit. For polishing run 100% poly fill and if you need anywhere in between look at polyester batting or you will probably need some bulk filter material (e.g. Jap Mats).

Matala is also very nice as it comes in everything from extremely course to fine and is reusable and does not compact.

I would personally go with foam and poly fill or Matala. Either way is cheap in the long run.
