I'm looking for a pleco that will do a good job of eating my algae.
I really like L066's and there's some for sale around the corner but I've read they are carnivorous :irked:

It's to go in a 4 foot tank. I only want it to grow to 15 - 20cm max.
And not be unbelievably pricey. (Under $100 when small)
I fell in love with a the zebra type.. And then looked up there price.

So basically I'm looking for something a bit different that looks cool, eats my algae and doesn't grow too big.

Any ideas?

Everybody in this hobby have seen the zebra, then looked up the price and cried. :irked:

I have a blue seam ancistrus and I love him! Cleans all night, very nocturnal but very attractive when he ventures out into the moon lights. keeps the glass 100% clean. I wish I could find a few more.

One of my LFS has a zebra for $450 for like 5 years. That being said, this store has always been way overpriced.

I think its funny that everytime I go in there, the pleco has not moved. I would not buy a near $500 that isn't very active!

The rule of thumb is usually the fancier the pleco the less algae they will eat.

BN's are best, then commons then sailfins....

Look for a L200 or L128 phantom are active good algea eaters and don't get overly huge. Bristle are one of the best algea eaters tho.
