I recently purchased a FX5 filter for my 210 gallon tank. I got it and while I was tightening the nuts that hold the lid on, two of them broke. The other 6 went on fine. Right now the unit is still fully functional and currently running with only 6 of them tightened, but I would like to get 2 more for peace of mind. I bought from an authorized Hagen dealer on eBay, so it holds a 3 year warranty.

I have their number, but it is only open from 8-4 pm eastern time on weekdays. There is no possible way I can talk to them during those hours as I have school and my parents work. I emailed them twice, and both times they said to expect a reply within 24 hours, but i recieved nothing. I have heard that hagen has great customer service, is it just me?

give me the number i will call for you and explain your situation if you want

i have tried to contact hagen about 10 time never a response

What did you use to tighten the nuts down. You must have been reefing pretty hard on them to break 2 of them.

I didn't break them, they both had faulty threads. I was using my hands as instructed in the manual.

Thanks for the link, but no way I am going to pay $20+ shipping when I essentially payed $15 for the warranty-there was an unauthorized hagen dealer(which means no warranty) selling for $15 less on eBay.

I didn't actually break the nut or bolt, but rather the little orange clip that holds the fasteners onto the actual canister part.
